Obama models Narciso Rodriguez on Election Night

Narciso Rodriguez is about to get a serious sales boost thanks to Michelle Obama.

The first lady elect donned an eye-catching shift straight off the runway from the designer's upcoming Spring 2009 collection for her husband's big night.

Gone were the sheer straps, low-cut neckline and short hem with sheer undertones. In its place were black side panels and a scoop neck.

And those peek-a-boo sheer straps ...? Replaced with solid black and covered with a sensible cardigan, natch.

A rep for the designer kept mum on whether Obama met with Rodriguez or snagged the dress off the rack, but did note that the dress is currently available on back order.

Obama, who quickly emerged as a campaign style icon, sparked a shopping frenzy in June when she appeared on "The View" in a $148 dress from White House Black Market.

Obama was subsequently named one of People magazine's Best Dressed for her "classic and confident" style.
