KIM Kardashian says people are surprised by how skinny she is in real life.

The Dancing With the Stars competitor -- who is currently dating American football player Reggie Bush -- insists her famously large behind makes fans think she is curvy all over.

She said, "I look a lot bigger on TV. When I meet people, the first thing they say is, 'Wow, you're so much smaller than I thought'. I look about 15 lbs heavier. I'm only 115 lbs, and everyone thinks I'm like 130 or 140. It's bizarre. I'm a US size 2!"

Kim, 27, also said she hopes appearing on DWTS will help her tone up.

She added, "I'm going to probably have kids soon, so I want to have the perfect body before then.

"I've lost a few pounds - nothing too crazy yet, but I heard you really start to lose weight when the show starts."

However, the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star admits she is not expecting to lose a drastic amount of weight, because she could never entirely curb her junk food cravings.

She said, "I know that I'm not a stick-skinny girl, and I don't want to be or try to be. And I love to eat. Cooking is a big part of my life. "When you're putting that much time into perfecting something, you don't want to just eat a cheeseburger. I've been eating better."

Johansson And Ryan Reynolds Tie The Knot In Secret Wedding

Dating for over a year and engaged for four months, actress Scarlett Johansson, 23, and Ryan Reynolds, 31, tied the knot on Saturday night in a very quiet ceremony outside Vancouver, Canada, People magazine reported.

While details about the wedding are scarce, sources close to the couple confirmed the news for People, as did Reynolds' publicist. An insider was quoted by Usmagazine.com as saying the event took place at a remote wilderness resort near Vancouver. Guests included Scarlett's mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson.

The pair started dating in February 2007, just two months after Reynolds ended his five year relationship, and two year engagement, with Alanis Morrisette. Scarlett previously dated Josh Hartnett for two years after meeting him on the set of "The Black Dahlia."

They confirmed their engagement in May, when Johansson showed off the $30,000 rock given to her by her beau on the red carpet at the Met Costume Ball Gala. However, when asked about possible wedding plans, Scarlett said she "hadn’t even thought about it yet," but that "I’m a private person, so I’m sure it will be as private as possible." Speaking about falling in love, the actress told Cosmopolitan that, "You don't always meet the right person at the right time."

Those recent rumors about Scarlett and Ryan having trouble and not heading down the aisle now seem fueled by the lack of information more than anything else. 

Reynolds has three films coming out next year according to IMDB, "The Proposal," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and "Adventureland." He’s also working on another film in pre-production, "Paperland," while Johansson has "He’s Just Not That Into You," due for release in February of next year, and is due to work on one more film. She also expressed her desires to direct in the future.

At the actress's Hollywood Hills mansion, Kenny Paves, hairstylist to such stars as Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson, arrives to put the finishing touches on the style he created earlier in the day at his salon. Longoria Parker explains that her father, Enrique, an Army engineer, didn't like the short, curly hairstyle she wore to Sunday's Screen Actor's Guild Awards, so now it's straight and sleek.

Paul Newman died of cancer yesterday at 83 years old but I will always remember him as Butch Cassidy turning to his buddy Robert Redford ( The Sundance Kid ) as they watched a relentless posse closing in on them as they perched in hiding high up on a cliff ~ overlooking a surging river below them. " Who are those guys " Butch exclaims as they get ready to jump into the river far below them.

Paul Newman is mourned in Iran

Iranians are not known for their love of American pop culture or movie stars, but this weekend they're mourning Paul Newman.

A major state newspaper took the unusual step of printing a front-page story about Newman's death. Government dailies traditionally trumpet the Islamic Republic's staunch anti-American stance and ignore Western culture.

More liberal independent newspapers also ran front-page articles on the iconic American actor.

The headline in one read, "The end of the last classic star." Another paper mourned, "The end of the blue-eyed kid."

News of Paul Newman's death Friday left fans and admirers with a feeling of abrupt loss this weekend, wondering how a figure of grace who always had been close at hand -- whether onscreen in one of his 50-plus film roles or, in a late-career twist, smiling down from bottles of salad dressing on supermarket shelves -- was suddenly gone.

Barbara Walters shares a moment with actor Paul Newman before buckling into his race car.

ABC's Barbara Walters had one of the last extended conversations with the blue-eyed titan, catching up with Newman last fall at Limerock Racetrack in Lakeville, Conn., where the film star went on weekends to indulge his passion for auto racing.

"There's something exhilarating about it," Newman, 82 at the time, told Walters. "I don't plan to be winning a lot of races, but it's fun to just get in the car, and it's very relaxing actually."

In the interview, Newman told Walters that he would no longer work as an actor -- despite having been nominated for an Academy Award for his role alongside Tom Hanks in "Road to Perdition" just five years earlier.

"I simply cannot remember lines, and maybe it's become psychological, or whatever," Newman said. "Doesn't make any difference. Because once your confidence goes, you're working at maybe 50 percent of your potential."

The two went on to talk about Newman's philosophy of life, his long marriage to actress Joanne Woodward, his opinion on his own looks and what his epitaph would be. A transcript of the interview, beginning with Newman's take on his early years in the business,


Newman: I certainly never expected to be a professional actor. I never expected to be in movies.

Walters: What did you expect? What were you going to do?

Newman: I thought I would probably become a teacher.

Britney Spears is suddenly hot again — though we have no idea why. We can only attribute it to a.) less frequent mentions of Kevin Federline and b.) less frequent live signing. Nevertheless, Ms. Spears has done a commendable job in using her fame to help others and her resurrection in the spotlight can only mean good things for charity fundraising.

The 26-year-old recently stripped down to her knickers for artist Daniel Maltzman. The painting — which looks to pay homage to the pre-meltdown days — will be sold to raise money for charity in an eBay auction. All of the cash will go towards The Promises Foundation, an organization which helps low-income moms and their children.

Bidding for the autographed 4ft by 5ft unframed work of art is currently at just over $13,000 — with a final price above $15K expected by the closing hammer at 3pm EST. We would recommend consulting your significant other before throwing down a bid.

Britney Spears thinking about remarrying Kevin Federline?

Rumors are flying fast and furiously today that Britney Spears is seriously considering remarrying her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Now, granted, she’s made a lot of progress these past few months: she’s lost a lot of weight, she’s stopped appearing drunk and without panties in public, and she even showed up at the 2008 VMAs looking pretty good, especially considering her performance at the 2007 VMA’s. However, even with all that progress, I don’t know if it’s such a good idea to get back with a guy who didn’t really seem to be helpful in keeping her on the straight and narrow.

Regardless, Kevin and Britney are going together to couples counseling, and as part of their therapy, they are going on formal dates together. Which for them, would maybe be a trip to the KwikEMart. And in order to facilitate all this new togetherness, she’s selling her home for $7.9 million in order to get a place closer to Kevin so they can share better custody of the kiddos. The property is described as an “exquisite gated Italian Renaissance-inspired villa with three garages and a grand entrancefoyer” (source), so if you have some extra change, well, you know what to do.

Britney Spears Sucks on Cherries, Straddles Guy in New Video

Things get steamy in Britney Spears' new music video for "Womanizer."

The singer shot it yesterday at Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant and Elevate Lounge in Los Angeles.

One witness tells Usmagazine.com it features plenty of "erotic" choreography. (According to a leaked copy of the single, lyrics include: "Boy don’t try to front / I know just what gets you off.")

In one scene, Spears (who wears tight, black leather pants and fake tattoos on her arms in the video) lies on a kitchen counter and later straddles and makes out with a man dressed in business suit.

The scene continues with Spears sucking on cherries or dangling them around her mouth, all while straddling and crawling all over the man, the witness says.

All the hot and heavy action didn't seem to faze Spears.

"She seems to be all business," the witness told Us. "She'd just do one thing after another and then on to the next."

Spears worked up a sweat — her black bob wig was rubbing off on her forehead, says the witness — and an appetite.

For lunch, she ate three pieces of cheese pizza.

Lindsay Lohan suspends lesbian relationship to focus on economic crisis???

She recently transformed herself into a political blogger on her MySpace page, and now Lindsay Lohan has announced that she has suspended her relationship with Samantha Ronson so she can focus on the bailout plan for Wall Street. She wrote it about it in her blog this morning:

"At this time of tragedy in our nation, I could no longer continue to prance around with Samantha for the paparazzi. I have to focus exclusively on Wall Street's financial troubles. I also call on Ellen DeGeneres to suspend her relationship with Portia de Rossi so the nation can shift their attention to the financial bailout package."

Miley Cyrus has also made an announcement regarding the crisis on Wall Street. She says she will suspend her plans to shoot racy photos of herself that were supposed to be posted on the internet.

According to Star, the formerly promiscuous skank is heading toward another drug and alcohol-driven breakdown.


"Lindsay's been drinking, doing cocaine and causing all-around mayhem for the past few months," an source told the magazine. "She quit going to Alcoholics Anonymous and has absolutely never taken recovery seriously.

She's gotten progressively worse, and everyone in her life is really scared."

Lohan didn't take this affront lying down.

"American Idol" singer Clay Aiken tiptoed out of the closet this week into a world where American gay and lesbian celebrities are thriving, but still awaiting the company of an A-list star.

Aiken, 29, confirmed what most people in the music business have long believed when he told People magazine he was gay in an interview released on Wednesday.

The 2003 "Idol" runner-up joined popular television host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres, "Sex and the City" actress Cynthia Nixon, actor Neil Patrick Harris and others who have acknowledged their sexual orientation in recent years.

Hollywood has come a long way from the days when stars like Rock Hudson had to keep their sexuality a secret. But coming out can still be risky for a star even if it is no longer a career ender, Hollywood watchers said.

Actress Lindsay Lohan and British DJ Samantha Ronson have set tongues wagging for months about their friendship, but so far Lohan has dodged opportunities to clarify it. Lohan did acknowledge in a radio interview this week that the two had been "going out" for "a very long time," but did not provide details.

"Almost everyone who has come out has been happier because of it and in almost every case, it has helped their careers, " said Hollywood public relations expert Howard Bragman.

"However the fear is still there -- the fear of fans, and of studios. Coming out is easier in the music world and it is generally easier for women than men," said Bragman, founder of the Fifteen Minutes PR agency.

Lindsay Lohan's 'Ugly Betty' Season 3 Premieres Tonight

You can surely bet that Betty's back as the third season of Ugly Betty airs tonight on ABC. After two successful seasons, the cast of the series returns with the episode “The Manhattan Project.” This time, we'll be finding out just who Betty chooses: Henry, Gio or something else? Decisions will have to be made, and changes will affect almost everyone.

The answer to the question of what Betty (America Ferrera) will finally do with her life finally surfaces when she decides to head somewhere to think things over. During the last season's finale, Henry (Christopher Gorham) proposed to Betty while Gio (Freddy Rodriguez) asked her to go on a romantic trip to Rome with him. Betty's perplexity only leads her to go on a vacation of her own.

Meanwhile, Alexis (Rebecca Romjin) and Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams) decide that the best way to promote the new issue of MODE is to go on TV. They appear on Live with Regis and Kelly, taking steps to ensure that the magazine is still on top. However, things aren't going as smoothly as they hope as Daniel (Eric Mabius) is forced to make changes of his own, all thanks to the manipulations of Wilhelmina.

A return that may or may not surprise fans is that of Lindsay Lohan's, who will be playing Kimmie once again this season. She works with Ignacio (Tony Plana) in his new job at a fast-food restaurant.

It seems as though the new season of Ugly Betty is off to a good start, with the show now being shot entirely in New York City. Fans have yet to see how the location change will affect the third season, which brings back the same exciting storyline and classic comic characters. But then, there's a new man in Betty's life as well. Actor and musician Val Emmich appears on the series as Jesse, a new recurring regular on Ugly Betty.

Nicole Ritchie ‘broke down’ after DJ AM-Travis Barker plane crash news

Nicole Ritchie could not hold back her tears after learning that her former fiancé celebrity spinner DJ AM, and ex Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, were injured in an appalling plane crash.

The two were hurt in a crash that killed four people. "My prayers are with them — they are two people I just have so much respect for," Fox News quoted Ritchie, as saying.

"I just think it''s amazing they survived; I hope everything goes OK," Nicole added.

Plane crash survivors, Travis Barker and DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) (the house band for the Video Music Awards’s earlier this month) are expected to make a full recovery, with the help and support of a close network of friends and family.
The tragic LearJet 60 plane crash, which National Transportation Safety Board investigators believe was caused by a blown tire on the jet, killed four and left Blink-182 drummer and DJ AM in critical condition. Executive Director at the Joseph Center in Augusta, Ga., Dr. Mullins says that both men are recovering from extensive burns and are facing weeks of hospitalization to treat their injuries.

Mullins states that victims of severe trauma can have a difficult time coping with the after-math. However the encouragement and support the two men are getting from close friends, fans and family will certainly speed up the recovery.

MTV’s news site was quickly flooded with comments from well-wishers who were anxious for updates about the musicians’ conditions. Fans offered comforting words to the victims. One fan says; “I live right outside of Augusta, Georgia, and while I am very upset this had to happen, it couldn’t have happened in a better place. Our burn center is voted the best burn unit in the Southeast, so they are in the best hands.”

On Monday, Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, issued a statement thanking everyone for the “outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time.”

Singer Mandy Moore hopped a flight and visited ex-boyfriend Adam Goldstein at the Burn Center the day of the accident, Moore’s manager confirmed to PEOPLE. Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, also rushed to the hospital as soon as she heard the news and stayed by his side.

And Lindsay Lohan’s girlfriend, DJ Samantha Ronson sent out a condolence message on her MySpace page to the families of the victims of the crash and good friend DJ AM and Travis Barker.

It looks like Lindsay Lohan might be about to become the lastest celebrity to lose everything.

The actress has allegedly been caught snorting cocaine, drinking heavily and with suspect cuts on her arms.

A source told Star magazine: "Lindsay has a very addictive personality, and her drugs of choice are cocaine and prescription pills.

"She has different dealers in LA and New York. Half the problem is that nobody says no to Lindsay."

It is not known what her girlfriend Samantha Ronson thinks about the situation. It is thought she is trying to support the actress and rumour has it she puts Lindsay to bed when she gets too drunk to walk.

The source believes that Lindsay might have harmed herself shortly before the MTV VMA Awards because she saw Samantha talking to another girl.

They explained: "Lindsay threw a tantrum and wanted to fight a girl who was talking to Sam.

"Lindsay has locked herself in the bathroom and cut herself in the past. Sam is aware of this and has hidden razors from Lindsay."

One of the first responders to a fiery South Carolina plane crash said Wednesday that a pair of musicians escaped the flaming wreckage by sliding down the wing.

"They said the plane went down. They didn't say how or if they knew," said Lt. Jason Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department. "Once it went down, they were able to slide down the wing of the plane, and they jumped on each other to put fires on each other out and rolled around on the ground."

Shumpert said he didn't know until later that the two badly burned men were former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein. One of their doctors at a Georgia burn hospital said he expects them to fully recover from their second- and third-degree burns.

A video of the Friday night crash scene shot from Shumpert's police car shows an inferno next to the road, with screams ringing out above the din of sirens of ambulances and fire trucks. Shumpert said the screaming voice belonged to Barker, who was trembling and seemed to be in intense pain as he sat on the sidewalk, waiting for medical help to arrive.

"Travis, you could tell he was in pain," Shumpert said. "He just kept saying: 'That's my friends in the plane, that's my friends in the plane.'"

Pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif., died of smoke inhalation and burns within minutes of the crash. A South Carolina coroner has said Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles, close friends of the musicians, died on impact.

Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182. DJ AM is a popular DJ who was also a tabloid favorite for some celebrity romances.

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have not said what caused the crash. A cockpit voice recorder revealed that crew members thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff. The Learjet shot off the end of the runway, ripped through a fence and crossed a highway before coming to rest, engulfed in flames.

NTSB officials, who have recovered pieces of tire from the runway, planned to return to Washington on Thursday. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., which made the tires, has said it is cooperating with the investigation.

A spokesman for a clothing company Barker owns said Tuesday the drummer had been through several surgeries and was trying to keep an upbeat attitude. Regardless of what caused the crash, Shumpert said both men are lucky to be alive.

"It was divine intervention that they got out," he said. "They should be commended for being able to get out and keep their heads together."

Monday, Lindsay told Loveline, the syndicated radio program, that she’s officially dating the 31-year-old DJ.

Which is news only because although the gal pals have appeared in public kissing and hugging for some time, they’ve been coy about publicly commenting about the nature of their friendship

"You guys, you and Samantha, have been going out for how long now?" DJ Ted Stryker asked. "Like, two years, one year, five months, two months?"

"For a very long time," Lohan said after laughing.

Ronson was initially chatting with Stryker at the TV Guide Emmy after-bash Sunday night. She'd been talking about her friends DJ AM and Travis Barker, who are recovering from severe burns following a plane crash in South Carolina, before she put Lohan on the phone.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, told AP Monday that Lohan is not engaged to be married.

In an impromptu call to Dr. Drew's syndicated radio chat show, Loveline, on Monday, the 22-year-old actress was interrogated by cohost Ted Stryker.

"You guys, you and Samantha, have been going out for how long now?" asked Stryker. "Like two years, one year, five months, two months?"

"For a very long time," Lohan replied with a laugh.

The supposed confirmation occurred after Ronson talked to the Loveline crew during a brief break from spinning at TV Guide's Emmy afterparty. Ronson was offering her sympathies to pals DJ AM and Travis Barker, who were severely injured in a horrific plane crash on Saturday in South Carolina.

Ronson then handed the phone to Lohan.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, says that despite reports to the contrary, the Mean Girls star and the DJ are not engaged and had no plans to tie the knot.

But Michael Lohan didn't seem ready to accept any kind of relationship. Phoning the Yo on E! radio show, the elder Lohan offered his own spin. He said he didn't believe Lindsay actually fessed up to being romantically involved with Ronson during the call.

"They kind of asked her if she was dating [Samantha], and Lindsay eluded that question. Then [Stryker] led into another one and kind of tricked her into saying 'a long time,' " Michael said.

"Lindsay didn't call in, Samantha called in. She put her up to it, as far as I'm concerned," he added.

Ouch.

Admitting his open hostility toward Ronson, Michael said he wished for five minutes alone with the DJ to give her a piece of his mind.

"Samantha, if you really love her, love her like a friend and let her get back on her feet, and let her pursue the things in life that are really heartfelt," he mused. "And don't keep her from her family."

Michael Lohan said he feels Ronson has a dangerous hold on his daughter and tries to keep him at bay because he can "see right through her."

"You don't hear about the phone calls I get at four o'clock in the morning where [Lindsay is] crying to me on the phone, and Samantha in the background saying 'Get off the phone with your father,' " he said.

Sharon Stone Loses Custody Of Son

Hollywood star Sharon Stone has lost physical custody of 8-year-old son Roan to former husband Phil Bronstein.

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that the ongoing custody battle between former spouses Sharon Stone and Phil Bronstein has come to a sad end for the Hollywood actress.

Court documents detailing a Sept. 12 custody hearing show that it was decided that Phil Bronstein “shall have permanent sole physical custody of child.”

“Court finds that Respondent (Sharon Stone) failed to meet her burden of proof and denies Respondent's (Sharon Stone's) request for modification of custody,” the papers read, as quoted by ET.

The order is permanent unless there is a change of circumstances. Sharon Stone will not be completely deprived of her son’s companionship, as her visitation rights, as well as holiday and vacation rights remain in place.

Sharon Stone married newspaper executive Phil Bronstein in 1998; the union ended in divorce in early 2004. They had in the meantime adopted Roan, now 8. Following the divorce, Stone adopted two more children, son Laird, in 2005, and son Quinn in 2006. The two younger boys are now 4 and 2, respectively.

According to Entertainment Tonight, custody of son Roan was very different a year ago, as court papers dating from Oct. 2007 show that the former spouses had “joint legal and physical custody” at that time.

The Associated Press adds that the judge ruled that Bronstein’s home is more stable and structured. The parents much agree upon tutoring activities they wish to enroll Roan in and the child is to have Sharon Stone’s telephone number programmed into his cell and home telephones.

Lindsay Lohan's Dad Wants Samantha Ronson Out of Her Life

Lindsay Lohan's newly confirmed girlfriend is to blame for her personal and professional problems, her father Michael Lohan says.

Michael, in an e-mail to Pop Tarts, wrote that he has reason to believe that recent blog posts condemning him on his daughter's Web site were actually written by celeb DJ Samantha Ronson, even though they were said to have been written by Lindsay.

Michael also said he was in deep conversation on the phone with his daughter recently and heard Sam in the background enticing her to hang up.

Last week, Lindsay hit back at "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis over his comment that Ronson was "controlling" Lohan. Michael Lohan and Francis both have said that they don't believe Lindsay is gay.

Michael says Joe is a "good person" who cares deeply about Lindsay.

"He wasn't a bad guy when he flew Lindsay around on his jet, opened the doors to his home or tried to help, was he?" Michael said. "Of course not, because SaMANtha wasn't around."

Lohan said his baby girl could do much better when it comes to finding a lover.

"There is a lot more to Samantha then meets the eyes, not that what we see is too pleasing anyway! I mean, what's with this ... "person"??? Look at the way she "dresses"? Once more, she uses her middle finger more than she uses words! Personally, I think she is dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity," Lohan wrote.

"God will weed her out of Lindsay's life and at that time, you will finally see Lindsay back in the place where she belongs," he continued. "Not doing independent films, guest starring on [a] TV show, being a guest judge on a reality TV show or making appearances at Samantha's DJ gigs. Is this the Lindsay we all knew and loved before Samantha came into her life? No!!! When she got out of Cirque Lodge everything looked good until Samantha came on the 'scene.'"

Although Dina Lohan, Lindsay's mother, publicly praises Samantha, Michael said that privately, his ex-wife certainly does not. He said Dina called him two weeks ago to say Lindsay was very upset as Ronson was threatening to write a tell-all book about their private life. (Michael claims to have the conversation on tape.) Dina could not be reached for comment.

But the one thing everyone wants to know is why Michael continues to talk about Lindsay's personal business.

"Lindsay is my daughter. I am her father first and not a friend or an enabler," he responded. "After the death of my dad, (her grandfather) and all the things I continue to hear and see, I am compelled to speak out. The Lindsay I knew never would have missed his wake or funeral. But since being around Samantha, she has become a different person.

"If Samantha or 'anyone' wants to blog me or has anything to say, let them, to my face. Otherwise, if they want to be the sneaky, lying, parasites they are, I am ready to really spill the beans, and I won't stop until this dark, evil nemesis is out of Lindsay's life."

Reps for Ronson and Lindsay did not respond for comment.

Meanwhile, on Monday night, the duo offered what seemed to be the first public confession that they are lovers. Loveline radio host Ted Stryker asked how long they've been together, and Lindsay responded, "A long, long time."

Britney Spears' career comeback has experienced a slight setback -- her new song, "Womanizer," has had its radio premiere pushed back until the end of this month.

The pop star's eagerly anticipated new single was due to hit the airwaves in the U.S. on Monday, but a snippet of the track was leaked online by a radio station in Tennessee late last week.

And now bosses at Jive Records' Zomba Label Group have delayed the release of the tune until September 29 at the earliest.

According to online reports, the current mix of "Womanizer," the first release from Spears' forthcoming album "Circus," was not the finished version.

A source tells E! Online, "The mix was not finalized."

Nevertheless, here's one more contribution to Google: Britney Spears, pop princess or pop pariah, has listed her Beverly Hills Post Office home for $7.9 million.

The house is in a gated community and has about 7,500 square feet, with six bedrooms and 6 1/2 bathrooms. There's a wet bar, a library, a den, high ceilings and stone and mosaic tile floors. The master bedroom has a fireplace and a loggia. Then there's the pool, spa and arbor. It is being offered for sale partially furnished and decorated. And we suspect neighbors are popping open Champagne bottles.

This is the very same house that Spears was wrenched from in January by a well-executed LAPD plan to skirt the paparazzi and have the singer involuntarily committed to a psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center.

Neighbors are unlikely to forget that winter night with helicopters buzzing overhead and more than 100 paparazzi who chase Spears for a living hovering at the gates.

Spears, whose every move has been dutifully recorded by paparazzi, the courts, her fans and her detesters, was last seen looking for a new place to live in the Hidden Hills and Calabasas areas. Definitely gated.

The midriff-baring 26-year-old singer is planning a tour -- or at least so says her mother. So maybe her new neighbors won't have the same headaches that her old neighbors had.

Britney Spears' sister Jamie Lynn has been left devastated by the theft of photographs of her breastfeeding.

The 12 personal pictures - which also include photographs of Jamie Lynn’s sister Britney, father Jamie and mother Lynn playing with her new baby Maddie - were allegedly taken from her boyfriend Casey Aldridge's camera.

Casey had taken his camera to a Louisiana store to have prints taken from the memory card, but officials now believe extra copies of the images were made with the intention of selling them to the highest bidder.

A spokesperson for the 17-year-old actress said: "We have been informed that someone was trying to solicit personal photos that belong to Jamie Lynn, and currently the proper authorities are looking into the matter."

Because one of the pictures shows Jamie Lynn’s exposed breast as she nurses her three-month-old daughter, trying to sell the photographs could be classified as child pornography as the Zoey 101 star is still legally a minor in the US.

Spider-Man and David Blaine Have in Common

The team behind David Blaine’s 60-hour upside-down stunt at Wollman Rink this week is the same team that helped Spider-Man soar through New York City in the recent movies.

Randy Beckman, an 18-year veteran of film stunts, runs a 40-person company based in Valencia, Calif., and is part of David Blaine’s “flying team.” (Mr. Blaine started hanging upside down on Monday morning at 8 a.m. in Central Park’s Wollman Rink, and he will end it with a “dive of death” at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday on a live ABC television show that starts at 9 p.m.)

Among the stunts Mr. Beckman has coordinated is a 250-plunge from a building in SoHo for “Spider-Man 2,” during which the superhero reclaims his powers. For the plunge, the camera and the stunt man were mounted on separate rigs that were computerized to move in sync.

“Before we would go 10 feet a second, and now with the computer, we can go 43 feet a second,” Mr. Beckman said.

When they did everything by hand, they had to slow down the filming speed so it would be real time when it was shown on the screen. They are suspended using tech-12 cord, a Kevlar-based fiber commonly used for stunts.

Mr. Beckman’s projects, which generally have six-figure price tags, often take a day to set up. To help promote the “Spider-Man 2″ DVD in November 2004, Mr. Beckman was called upon to help the “Spider-Man” stunt man Chris Daniels ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange.

“We had to rig up in the attic of the New York Stock Exchange,” Mr. Beckman said. “Before the bell, we took him up, clipped him upside down.”

They then had Spider-Man swoop down to ring the bell, flanked by Sony executives. Mr. Beckman said, “They rung it as he was upside down, coming down.”

It was, he believes, the first time in the 212-year history of the stock exchange that anyone had rung the bell upside down.

Travis Barker Crash: Smoke, Fire Killed Crew

A South Carolina coroner investigating the weekend jet crash that took the lives of four and left Travis Barker and DJ AM in critical condition cites smoke inhalation and burns as the causes of death for the pilot and co-pilot, and impact-related injuries for the two other passengers.



"All we need now are results of the toxicology reports from the pilots," Lexington County Deputy Coroner Brian Setree, tells PEOPLE. "I don't anticipate anything there, but we will know for sure in about a week."



Killed as the Learjet 60 took off from Columbia, S.C., around midnight Friday were pilot Sarah Lemmon and co-pilot James Bland, along with passengers Chris Baker and Charles Still, who worked for the musicians.

Drummer Travis Barker, Adam Goldstein injured in fatal Learjet crash

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein, known as celebrity DJ AM, were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four Southern Californians, including Barker's bodyguard and his personal assistant, authorities said.

The pilot, Sarah Lemmon of Anaheim Hills, and copilot, James Bland of Carlsbad, were also killed, according to the Lexington County coroner.



The Learjet was taking off shortly before midnight Friday with six people aboard, when air traffic controllers saw sparks. The plane, which was en route to Van Nuys Airport, veered off the end of the runway, rolled through a fence and crashed on a nearby road, said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen.

Barker and Goldstein were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said.

Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles -- both members of Baker's entourage -- were among the dead.


According to music industry sources, Charles "Shea" Still was a longtime friend of Barker's and would sometimes work as a bodyguard when the star drummer performed in small shows. Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night.


Baker, nicknamed "Little Chris," worked as a personal assistant to Barker and had appeared sometimes on the MTV show "Meet the Barkers" the MTV domestic-life reality show that aired in 2005 and 2006.

Michael Creger, a friend of Still, said the bodyguard's family was reeling from the news. They were upset, too, that early media reports of the accident focused on the injured Barker instead of the dead passengers.


Creger said that Still's family had thought the group in South Carolina would be returning home on a commercial flight, but that travel plans changed. Creger said the brawny, athletic Still was "a gentle giant" who had aspired to a pro baseball career before finding a different career path with his backstage work. He was "huge music fan" who, with his tattoos and stature, was an imposing figure to strangers. His friends, however, knew him to be more like the tattoo across his torso: "Mama's Boy," Creger said.

"His mother in Riverside is just devastated by this because Shea's dad died not long ago also," Creger said.

At the crash site today, the air was still heavy with the odor of jet fuel. A trail of black soot led off a runway, across a five-lane road next to the airport and up an embankment. The nose of the aircraft was gone and the roof was missing from two-thirds of the charred plane.

An investigative team from the National Transportation Safety Board has been dispatched to South Carolina.

"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said.

Got confirmation on Global Executive Aviation as the aircraft operator. Based out of Long Beach.

The plane is owned by Global Exec Aviation, a Long Beach-based charter company, and was certified to operate last year, an NTSB official said.

Mark Shater, spokesman for the charter company, declined to comment on the crash or the pilots. He said Global is sending a management team to South Carolina to cooperate with the FAA and the NTSB.

Barker and Goldstein's Friday show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew 10,000 people into the streets of Five Points, the neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Coble said.

Neither Ferrell nor DeGraw was on the plane, their representatives told AP on Saturday.

Barker is one of the more famous faces to rise up in the Southern California pop-punk scene and, unlike many drummers who are fairly anonymous figures at the rear of the stage, he parlayed his popularity into television roles, advertising appearances and varied business ventures.

The 33-year-old Fontana native came to fame as the drummer in the platinum-selling San Diego County band Blink-182, one of the top U.S. bands at the beginning of this decade.

After Blink broke up, Barker went on to play with other rock bands such as +44, the Transplants and Box Car Racer, but he also established himself a musical chameleon, working with hip-hop acts such as Busta Rhymes, the Game, the Black Eyed Peas and the Oscar-winning group Three 6 Mafia.

Barker and then-wife Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA, were in front of the cameras along with their three children for "Meet the Barkers," the MTV domestic-life reality show that aired in 2005 and part of 2006. The rock star also appeared in the 1999 hit film "American Pie, and his television appearances include "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "The Simpsons," "MAD TV" and "MTV Cribs."


The tattoo-covered Barker, who often pops up in the gossip pages for his liaisons with celebrities, among them Paris Hilton, was also the subject of a popular 2006 Boost Mobile television commercial that has been viewed more than 800,000 times on YouTube.

Nine years ago, he launched a clothing line called Famous Stars and Straps, which opened a flagship store called the Fast Life near the intersection of 3rd and Crescent Heights. Some fans were stopping by Saturday to ask about the condition of the star, his associates and the crew.



Barker performed at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards with Goldstein, who goes by the stage moniker DJ AM. Goldstein was formerly in the band "Crazy Town" but today may be best known for his romances -- he was engaged for a time to "The Simple Life" star Nicole Richie and also had relationships with singer Mandy Moore and Canadian model Jessica Stam.



He is also the owner of popular Hollywood nightclub LAX, which has been a major spot in the celebrity circuit since its opening in 2005.

TomKat’s Post-Broadway Dinner Date

Things have been going really well for Katie Holmes since Thursday night’s opening preview performance of her Broadway show “All My Sons.” And after last night’s show, she and husband Tom Cruise celebrated with a dinner date.

The “Top Gun” stud and his “Mad Money” wife enjoyed a delicious meal at the celebrity-popular Nobu restaurant in Manhattan, holding hands and smiling the whole time.

And Katie looked ‘80s chic in a navy blue top with matching navy blue high-waisted pants and shoes while Tom rocked a blazer/oxford shirt combo with jeans.

Holmes’ performance in “All My Sons” is getting rather good reviews, despite the messy Anti-Scientology protests that have been going on outside the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

Charlize Theron says it was great to be directed by boyfriend Stuart Townsend in their new film Battle in Seattle – except when it wasn't.

"No matter what I say, people think I am biased because I sleep with him," Theron joked with reporters in New York City Sept. 17. "It was great. He loved directing and I've never seen him so happy – which hurts my feelings as his girlfriend!"

Townsend, 35, Theron's boyfriend of seven years, makes his writing and directorial debut with the drama about the 1999 World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle and protesters who brought the city's streets to a standstill.

Theron, 33, says Townsend spent five years writing and preparing for his labor of love. "We would go on vacation to Fiji," she says, "and I would be like, 'Romance time!' But he would have a pile of research and I would be like, 'Oh my God, this is so not sexy!' But that passion paid off."

For the Irish actor turned director, working with his real-life leading lady was fun, and occasionally embarrassing. "She called me by my pet name a couple of times," Townsend says. "The crew then started to call me by my pet name and I said to them, 'That's not cool. I'm trying to be a serious director here.'"
And what exactly is that pet name? "I can't tell you," says Townsend.

Play draws protest. Not for her acting Katie Holmes?

There were about 30 protesters shouting outside the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway at this week's preview of Arthur Miller's play, “All My Sons,” starring Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes.

But no, they weren’t protesting her acting.

It was anti-Scientology demonstration, and the demonstrators shouted "Free Katie!" and carried banners that said, "Free Katie, Keep Tom.”

One protester, who wouldn't give his name, told the New York Daily News: "We aren't protesting Katie. But Scientology is a cult and once you become a member you can't leave, and we've heard that Katie isn't able to leave because of Tom Cruise."

Wow. Poor Katie. Just what the girl needs on her big night on Broadway. Bet she’s thinking, "Darn you and your controversial religion. Spoil my night!"

Thankfully, the audience reaction to her performance seemed fairly positive.

Naturally, Tom Cruise called her performance, "extraordinary."

Andrew Morton, the author of that very controversial book, "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography," was in the audience.

He told InTouch, "'She handled the stage and moved very well. She was a little stiff at times, but she was up against some big Broadway stars.'

Good thing Tom didn't know Andrew was in the audience.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Relation is the break-up ???

Several people have been commenting or emailing me, concerned about the rumors that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split up. People have been asking why I haven’t posted about it. Well, because if I posted every time someone said their relationship was over, every week there would be at least one “oh my god, they broke up!” post followed by a “whew, no, they’re still together” post. These rumors circulate on a near-constant basis. If you look at any tabloid magazine, one week they’re saying Brad and Angie are finished, the next week they’re saying Brad and Angie are getting married, and the week after that they’re saying that they’ve just adopted ten new kids. And then the cycle continues.

However, apparently the concern is coming from the fact that Perez Hilton reported it. Except he didn’t really - he just acknowledged that there was a strong rumor going around. And actually, it appears that the rumor of Brad and Angelina splitting came from the National Enquirer. That tabloid trash isn’t even good enough to line your bird cage, let alone good enough to believe.

And in any case, Perez then reported that Angelina Jolie’s rep has denied the break-up rumors, calling them completely untrue.

I think I know why this is so persistent right now - we haven’t seen Angelina in months, not since Cannes. People have seen Brad on the red carpet without her at his side, something that is highly unusual. But these people are forgetting that the woman gave birth to twins, is breastfeeding, and likely completely exhausted. Then again, people are also saying that Brad looks unhappy lately. I disagree. I think he looks just like any other parent of young children. I looked like that, my husband looked like that, our friends all looked like that during the first months when no one is sleeping. The man is TIRED. It happens, it’s part of it.

But when you combine Angelina’s isolation in France, Brad’s solo red carpets, and his half-asleep expressions, it’s easy to see how tabloids would cash in on it all and speculate heavily.

Don’t believe the rumors just because they’re there. Is this couple bullet-proof? Of course not, any relationship can end. However, as far as strong Hollywood couples go, I’d say that these two are among the strongest, and unless a reputable source says that it’s ended, I’m going to carry on without worrying about it!

Earlier this week, HarperCollins announced that Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell signed a deal to write two young-adult novels focusing on Bradshaw's high school years. No doubt a television or movie adaptation won't be far behind. If so, Selena Gomez says you can count her out. "That's not really the audience I'm going for," Gomez, 16, said at last night's Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. "I mean, my mom loves the show and it's a very popular show, but that's not the direction I'm looking to take at this time." Well, there's always Miley Cyrus... The Hannah Montana star told TV Guide in July she'd love to be a part of a not-so-dirty SATC. "I'd love to do a younger, cleaner version of Sex and the City," Cyrus, 15, said, adding, "I like to think of myself as the girl that no one can get, that no one can keep in their hand." Also at the Teen Vogue party were Rumer Willis, the mag's coverboy, Zac Efron, and his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, Twilight star Nikki Reed and her Thirteen costar Evan Rachel Wood. Katie Holmes Hits Broadway With a Bang

In case you haven’t heard, previews began Thursday night for the revival of Arthur Miller’s great play, "All My Sons," on Broadway.
In case you don’t know, Katie Holmes — aka Mrs. Tom Cruise — has a small role in the production which otherwise stars two-time Oscar-winner Dianne Wiest, Tony-winner and movie powerhouse John Lithgow and the up-and-comer Patrick Wilson.
The first night — which is not the opening night — was something of a circus, as I am told by two reliable sources who plunked down their money and went on to see the show.
For one thing, Mr. Holmes — aka Tom Cruise — was there, and he was no shrinking violet. A proud husband, Tom entered the Schoenfeld Theater to massive applause, thanks to the star-struck audience. Before he took his seat in the orchestra section, on the aisle, fifth row, he waved and bowed for the audience.

My spies say that at the end of the show, Tom was first on his feet with wildly enthusiastic applause, too. He doesn’t seem to get that this isn’t one of his kids’ soccer games, but hey, at least he’s a present and loyal husband.
One thing my peeps were surprised by: Lithgow and Wiest didn’t take separate star curtain calls. I’m told that they are so good, and the real reason for seeing this production, that they should re-think that plan. Perhaps they will in time.
I’m also told that Simon McBurney’s direction is superb. Lithgow, Wiest, McBurney, Miller. These are the reasons to see “All My Sons.” Even Katie Holmes knows that.
So how is Katie? “She doesn’t embarrass herself or anyone else,” says my spy. “She’s fine.”
Remember: this is what Katie wanted to do in New York before she met Tom. It’s what she told me at the premiere of “Steel Magnolias” on Broadway in April 2005. Call it a dream deferred. Theater wags and tabloid gossips can’t have it both ways: if we want Katie Holmes to try to be the fine actress she was trying to be in “Pieces of April,” she shouldn’t be knocked for taking this part. More power to her for trying something hard and succeeding.
One odd observation by my spies: they say that about two dozen well-dressed young people poured into the theater with Cruise, and took orchestra seats. “They were dressed like they were going to a nightclub. The vibe was weird. They all knew each other. It was not a regular theater crowd.” Future audiences should take note if this continues.
The other word from the Schoenfeld Thursday night was about the “protesters.” This is the group that calls itself Anonymous, wearing “V for Vendetta" masks. They say they are against Scientology and shout out “Save Katie.” I must say, this is completely inappropriate. I hope they stop this as soon as possible. There is nothing to be gained by harassing theatergoers on West 45th St. Scientology has nothing whatsoever to do with this theater production. Causing this disruption is disrespectful to the professionals who are involved in “All My Sons.” Let’s leave them all alone.
By the way, Christian Camargo is in this production. He’s a fast-rising 30-something actor who’s also in a hot movie, “The Hurt Locker,” directed by Kathryn Bigelow. His mom is actress Victoria Wyndham, the star of NBC’s "Another World” soap opera for almost 30 years. The actor doesn’t fall far from the tree, as they say.
'Sex and the City': Sequel Cooking
Well, I did tell you a long time ago that Michael Patrick King thought there would be sequels to “Sex and the City: the Movie.”
Thursday night at the Public Library party for the DVD of the film, he and Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed it. He’s off to write the next installment. Both SJP and Kim Cattrall told me they’re excited to see what he comes up with.
At the same time, Candace Bushnell announced that she’s writing a “prequel” to the ladies’ lives, taking them maybe from teen through college years to the time they all met.
King told me, quipping, “I’m thinking of doing an animated version of them as babies.”
SJP added, “Let’s wring everything we can out of this thing!”
It didn’t hurt that she was dressed and styled like a modern Audrey Hepburn, and that she worked the pink carpet full of media outside the Library like a pro. There just is not a more gracious movie or TV star around.
Meantime, Cynthia Nixon was upstairs in the Library with partner Christine Marinoni. Cynthia just won an Emmy (announced early) for guest star in a drama — “Law & Order: SVU.” That’s her second Emmy. Last year she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play — “Rabbit Hole” — on Broadway. She still needs a Grammy and an Oscar to tie Rita Moreno, who has one of each.
“Well, they are doing the 'Electric Company' again on PBS,” Cynthia joked. “Maybe I can be the new Rita Moreno there.”
Of the “SATC” guys, the only one I saw Thursday night was my old pal, Evan Handler, who plays Harry. (Kristin Davis, his on-screen wife, was working in Los Angeles.) Evan is off to do a book tour now for his latest memoir about surviving cancer called, “It’s Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive.”
The book came out in May, but his publisher, Riverhead, was too cheap (my words, not his) to capitalize on his TV fame and send him out then. And publishers wonder why books don’t sell!

Pierre (and his beautiful wife Mary) have brought us a lot of entertainment, including “The Will Rogers Follies” on Broadway (they won a Tony for that). But there would have been no Grammy Awards for the last 30 years without Pierre. He’s the guy who made it happen. Expect a lot of Grammy-sized toasts at the Santa Monica Civic Center. Saturday night at Joe’s Pub in New York (next to the Public Theater), he’s showcasing songs from his new album, “The Legend of Kung Folk.” The 10-track CD finally shows Ben in full bloom as an artist, singer and songwriter. It’s an impressive and disarming work, which isn’t to say it’s not also fun and immensely easy to hum. This is what John Mayer could be if he’d just relax and stop trying so damn hard. Katie Holmes debuts on Broadway amid protests

Actress Katie Holmes won praise for her debut on Broadway on Thursday night, where she was cheered on by actor husband Tom Cruise and shouted at by anti-Scientology protesters outside the theater.
The drama started before the curtains went up in the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater with a group of about 20 protesters, some masked, chanting "Scientology is a cult" and "Free Katie", according to the New York Daily News.
Inside Cruise, star of "Mission: Impossible" and one of the best known members of the Church of Scientology, was the main attraction, swarmed by fans and agreeing to pose for photos, overshadowing Dustin Hoffman who was also present.
But once the real action started on stage, Holmes proved herself to be worthy of her co-stars, Tony winner John Lithgow, Oscar winner Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson, in Arthur Miller's classic "All My Sons", according to press reports.
"She was extraordinary," Cruise said with pride following two standing ovations for the cast, according to The Daily News.
Katie was "actually pretty good. She has her hands on her hips a lot like she's posing for pictures and she projects her voice a bit too much, but she's a good actress," one audience member told OK! magazine.
Previews for the play began on Thursday but the official opening is October 16.
Holmes, 29, shot to fame on the U.S. television series "Dawson's Creek" before marrying actor Cruise with whom she has a daughter Suri.
Most recently she starred in box office flop "Mad Money".

"All My Sons", based on the true story of a successful businessman who knowingly sold the government defective airplane parts during World War Two, was first performed on Broadway in 1947 and won Tony Awards for Miller and director Elia Kazan.
It was adapted for a 1948 film starring Edward G. Robinson and Burt Lancaster and then performed again on Broadway in 1987.
Holmes plays the fiancee of the businessman's son, who is also the daughter of his partner.
Scientology was founded by science fiction writer Ron L. Hubard in Los Angeles more than 50 years ago and has a following among some Hollywood celebrities but is condemned as a cult in some quarters, including by the German government.

Britney Searches For 'Womanizer' Dancers

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Fresh off a stellar appearance at the 2008 MTV VMAs, Britney Spears is hunting for dancers to help her repeat another possible sweep at next year's festivities.
The pop star was hard at work Wednesday at the International Dance Academy in Hollywood, hunting for dancers for the video for her first single, "Womanizer," off her upcoming new album, "Circus," People reports.
A source told the mag the video will start shooting "very soon.

Brit's new album is produced by the Atlanta production team, The Outsyders, and has the pop star teaming up with producers Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Danja, Bloodshy and Avant.

"I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room," Brit told OK! in August. "This is my best work ever."

As for the sound of "Circus," Britney said she is working with talented people who are helping her take her songs up to the next level.

"I think it is more urban. I'm working with producers who are just amazing," she added. "There is this fresh new energy."

Though Brit is on the hunt for her own video co-stars, she found time to help out the queen of pop, Madonna, guest starring in a video segment for Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" tour, where Brit sings an except from Madge's "Human Nature," while trapped in an elevator, which Brit fans will get a chance to see this fall when Madge's tour lands in America.

"Womanizer," is set to hit radio on September 22 and "Circus" will drop on December 2, which coincides with Brit's 27th birthday.

Britney Spears Driven to Trial...Almost

We're guessing this wasn't the kind of Circus Britney Spears was thinking of while plotting her vaunted comeback.

A Los Angeles judge today set an Oct. 15 trial date for Spears for driving with an invalid license, E! News confirms.

But there's a chance that trial may yet be averted, with one last preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 8 for prosecutors and the pop tart's lawyers to reach a compromise in the case.

In the latest development in Spears' never-ending legal saga stemming from last year's minor fender-bender, the 26-year-old singer's lawyers met in chambers this morning with Superior Court Judge James A. Steele and Los Angeles city prosecutors.

Afterward, L.A. city prosecutor Michael Amerian told E! News that both sides hope to reach a plea deal to avoid the spectacle of a full-blown trial.

"We're just look for a fair resolution to this. If that means going to trial, it means going to trial," he said.

The "Oops" songbird was rung up in August 2007 after a hit-and-split incident in which she dinged another vehicle while fleeing from paparazzi.

A follow-up investigation revealed that she was carrying a Louisiana license but not a California one, a no-no under state law. Authorities subsequently charged her with a misdemeanor count of driving without a vaild license.

Team Spears had hoped to persuade Steele to dismiss the charge but he rejected the motion earlier this month, paving the way for the hitmaker to stand trial.

No immediate comment from Spears' legal crew.

In happier news, Spears is expected to drop her sixth studio album, Circus, on Dec. 2, which also happens to be her 27th birthday. The first single, "Womanizer," goes out to radio stations next Tuesday.

Britney Spears Heading To Trial Over Driver's License Case

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Britney Spears is heading to trial over her misdemeanor driving without a license charge, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to a Los Angeles Superior Court press officer, a trial date for the pop star has been set for October 15.

Earlier this week, a lawyer for Spears, Michael Flanagan, told Access Hollywood he was planning to file a petition on Thursday to ask the Superior Court of Los Angeles to accept their proof the star has a valid license. He was hoping to have the case dismissed and for Britney to be able to pay a $10 fee. However, in court today, a judge set the October trial date instead.

The case stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears was videotaped as she bumped another vehicle while parking her Mercedes-Benz. She left -- without leaving a note -- after looking over the damage to her car from the fender-bender.

The owner of the other vehicle later filed a police report and Spears was charged a month later with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. The hit-and-run charges were dismissed in October 2007 after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner.

Flanagan has said that Spears was driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state.

Reality hosts take center stage at Emmys

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Five reality-show hosts will take center stage at Sunday's Emmy Awards, both as emcees and nominees. And just like at their day jobs, these five say they're ready for anything.

But please, no long-winded acceptance speeches.

The five-star lineup includes Tom Bergeron ("Dancing With the Stars"), Heidi Klum ("Project Runway"), Howie Mandel ("Deal or No Deal"), Jeff Probst ("Survivor") and Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol"). Seacrest was solo ringmaster at last year's Emmys.

All are nominees in the new category of best host for a reality or reality-competition show.

In separate interviews, they proved ready and willing to poke fun at themselves -- but they're serious about keeping the show lively and focused on nominees, where they say it belongs.

Here's their take on topics including each other, the joys of live television and whether reality TV already has proven an Emmy winner with the attention to its shows and hosts:

How will you work with your fellow hosts? Will there be a group song-and-dance number?

Klum: We should be doing something like that! ... I'm totally up for making fun of ourselves, doing goofy things. I'm up for a song and dance, definitely. I much prefer that to the super straightforward newscaster style. I'm totally up for the game. Bring it on!

Probst: I'm certain there won't be a group song-and-dance number, because I'm vetoing it right now.

Seacrest: I don't know that there will be too much choreography. However, the five of us know each other and have really good chemistry together. It will seem comfortable, natural and most of all fun. ... These shows are fun.

Bergeron: No song-and-dance, but we have some basketball moves we're really excited about, and Heidi's our forward. She's a supermodel and you add heels to that. ... It's gonna look like Snow White and the four dwarfs.

With the five of you hosting and being nominated, are the Emmys finally giving reality TV the respect it deserves?

Klum: They are giving us huge props. ... Television has changed. Reality television is a huge part of our culture now and it's growing year after year. I think they just thought about it more and therefore gave reality television series nominations. And now they put hosts in there, too, and I'm so flattered to be in that group. I'm shocked, to be quite honest.

Seacrest: The Emmy telecast reflects what television is throughout the year. Certainly, throughout the last few years we've seen the evolution of unscripted shows and their popularity with audiences. ... It certainly speaks to the evolution of the medium.

Mandel: When I used to watch the Grammys in the first years when rap was getting accepted as a form of music, I feel like reality is the rap of TV. We've finally arrived and been accepted as part of the television industry. I feel like a television rap artist.

Probst: I think this was the Emmys' way of acknowledging that a majority of the most popular shows on television right now are reality shows. ... As far as having us host? I think it just means the pool is quite dry.

Bergeron: We'll find out the morning after the Emmys, when we look at the ratings. It may be the last time you see reality hosts anywhere near the show.

Is Heidi Klum counseling you all on what to wear?

Mandel: However she'd like to dress me up, I'm happy to accommodate.

Seacrest: I haven't gotten any, but knowing how candid she is she'll have something to say. I hope I'm safe. I'm not going with any embellishment or accessory that may walk me to the line with Heidi. ... This is not the right place to debut something that will leave a mark with the audience.

Probst: I will take any advice Heidi would like to give me. Any at all.

Bergeron: Heidi's the fashion plate. We're gonna look like four maitre d's following her around.

What are the best and worst things about hosting a live show?

Klum: The worst thing is that a lot of things can go wrong, but at the same time, that's also maybe a good thing, because maybe you can use that to your advantage and make a joke out of it. ... I wouldn't mind if one of the other guys would completely do some twisted thing on me and totally get me discombobulated and you kind of have to shift gears.

Probst: It's one and the same: it's that it's live. ... I think every host will tell you they love doing live better than anything because you're living in that moment of, "I can choose to say or do this right now and it will either work or it won't, and there's only one way to find out."

Bergeron: The best thing undeniably is the unpredictability of it. When you walk out there, you have one shot at it and you best be completely focused and centered. The worst thing is it ends too quick. The most relaxed I am is when I'm on live television.

Seacrest: I love the moments that come in every live show that are unexpected. I love the interaction with the audience and people in the room and I loathe any word in the TelePrompTer. I'm not really great at the TelePrompTer.

Mandel: Free pants.

Got any tips for winners delivering their acceptance speeches?

Seacrest: One line and out. The best thing on live television for the winner and host is to be in the moment and not overthink what you're going to do or say. That genuine, honest moment is what we like to see on television.

Mandel: I've never actually won anything, so I have no tips for anybody who might be winning something. But coming from comedy before I did "Deal" and working in front of a live audience, I think you just don't overthink. Go with your heart and go with your gut and whatever happens will be true and hopefully entertaining.

Probst: Yeah, get off the cards! Say what you want to say. Say something real. ... The best moments are when people shoot from the hip and actually say something honest. There's not enough of those moments.

Klum: It's always good to be humble. It's an honor to be there to begin with. I mean, yes, you want to win, but look at all these shows and all these things that are out there. Already having a chance to be on TV is a great thing.

Bergeron: The key thing would be that, as fascinating as they think their chakra alignment specialist and attorney's assistant are, leave them out. Keep the "thank yous" as concise as possible, and if you can name-drop while thanking people, even if you don't know them, do so. I once thanked Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and the pope. I don't know them, I just wanted to book them on "Hollywood Squares."

You're used to working in front of a live audience. What's different about working in front of an industry crowd or what's the most embarrassing thing that could happen?

Bergeron: Repeated acid reflux. It's hard to cover that.

Mandel: The only thing that makes this a little different is that within the midst of you trying to entertain and move a show along, you're also competing. That's the difference, I think. But I don't see any difference working in front of this crowd versus working in front of any live audience I work in front of. We're just all people with different jobs.

Probst: It's definitely different working in front of an industry crowd, especially since the Emmys are primarily for the scripted world. Anybody in the reality world always feels a little bit like the stepchild.

Seacrest: I see us as a big target -- a target of multiple people. Whereas you take the whole bullet as an individual.

If you could trade jobs with another reality host, what show would you want to work on?

Bergeron: Howie's, because I always wondered what I'd look like bald.

Mandel: Heidi Klum. I think when you think fashion, you think Howie Mandel.

Probst: If I was going to trade shoes, I'd like to trade shoes with Ryan (Seacrest). I'd like to see Ryan do "Survivor" and see how he'd do it, and I'd love to just have a chance to go one-on-one with Paula Abdul.

Seacrest: Here's who I'd never trade jobs with: I would never trade jobs with Probst. That sweaty, humid cloud of tribal whatever he has to do in a tent is not the reason I moved to Southern California to pursue a career in broadcasting. I admire and respect every move he made on "Survivor" and he's safe from me wanting to step into his boots.

Starry All My Sons Begins Limited Broadway Run Sept. 18

The new Broadway production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons — co-starring Tony Award winner John Lithgow, Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, movie and musical theatre star Patrick Wilson and film actress Katie Holmes — begins previews Sept. 18 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

In addition to Lithgow (as Joe Keller), Wiest (Kate Keller), Wilson (Chris Keller) and Holmes (Ann Deever), the cast of the morality play set in post-World War II America also includes Becky Ann Baker (Sue Bayliss), Christian Camargo (George Deever), Jordan Gelber (Frank Lubey), Danielle Ferland (Lydia Lubey), Damian Young (Dr. Jim Bayliss) and Michael D'Addario (Bert) with Sherman Howard, Clark Jackson, Lizbeth MacKay, Christopher Grey Misa and Danielle Skraastad as the Neighbors.

Produced by Eric Falkenstein and directed by Simon McBurney, the production, which currently has an advance of $3.5 million, will officially open Oct. 16. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009.

Arthur Miller's first successful play, All My Sons won the Tony Award for the author in 1947 (and director Elian Kazan) and ran for 328 performances on Broadway. That production starred Ed Begley and Karl Malden. The play was later adapted for the screen in 1948 featuring Edward G. Robinson and Burt Lancaster. A 1987 revival was presented at the John Golden Theatre starring Richard Kiley.

According to production notes, "Miller took his inspiration from a true story about a successful business man [Lithgow] who knowingly sold the government defective airplane parts during World War II with tragic consequences. The truth comes out and his life unravels when his son [Wilson] prepares to marry his business partner's daughter [Holmes]." Wiest plays the patriarch's wife.

The design team comprises Tom Pye (sets and costumes), Paul Anderson (lights), Christopher Shutt and Carolyn Downing (sound), Finn Ross for Mesmer (projections) and Tony winner Paul Huntley (wigs and hair).

John Lithgow was most recently on Broadway as con man Lawrence Jameson Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. His other recent theatrical credits include A.R. Gurney's political comedy Mrs. Farnsworth and The Retreat From Moscow. Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success and received Tony nominations for Scoundrels, Requiem for a Heavyweight and M. Butterfly. He was also seen in the "Dreamgirls" film as a 1970s Hollywood producer and played a limited summer engagement at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater in John Lithgow: Stories By Heart.

A two-time Academy Award winner, Dianne Wiest has appeared on Broadway in Solitaire/Double Solitaire, Frankenstein, Othello, Beyond Therapy, In the Summer House and a staged reading of Salome. She won her Oscars for her work in "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Bullets Over Broadway" and was also nominated for her performance in "Parenthood." Wiest's numerous film credits also include "The Lost Boys," "Bright Lights Big City," "Independence Day," "Edward Scissorhands," "The Purple Rose of Cairo" and "Radio Days." She is also an Emmy Award winner for 1989's "Road to Avonlea." Wiest was recently seen Off-Broadway in the revival of The Seagull.

Patrick Wilson scored raves and a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in HBO's "Angels in America." He received Tony nominations for his work in Oklahoma! and The Full Monty and made his Broadway debut in The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm; he was also seen on Broadway in Barefoot in the Park. Wilson's screen credits include Raoul in the film of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera as well as "Purple Violets," "Running with Scissors," "Little Children," "Hard Candy" and "The Alamo." He will be seen soon in the superhero movie "Watchmen."

Katie Holmes has been seen on screen in "Batman Begins," "Disturbing Behavior," "Teaching Mrs. Tingle," "Pieces of April" and "Dawson's Creek." All My Sons will mark the actress' Broadway debut. Holmes is married to film actor Tom Cruise.

Britney Spears due to release album in December

Britney Spears' second comeback is in full swing: She's due to release a new album in December, on her 27th birthday.

"Circus" is set for release Dec. 2, a little over a year after she released last November's "Blackout," which was perhaps her most critically acclaimed CD, but came during her infamous year of erratic behavior, rehab, custody battles and at least one hospitalization. She barely promoted it, and the album — though it was certified platinum — was one of her least successful.

But these days, Spears has been in the spotlight for all the right reasons. She won three MTV Video Music Awards for her clip "Piece of Me" and appeared on the Sept. 7 awards show looking fit and stunning, a reversal of her disheveled, widely panned appearance in 2007. She also drew praise for her guest appearances on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother."

Spears' life seems to have rebounded after her father, James Spears, went to court and took control of her personal and professional life as her conservator. She also resolved her custody battle with former husband Kevin Federline, with Federline retaining custody of their two young sons and Spears receiving visitation rights.

Among the producers on Spears' new CD are Nate "Danja" Hills and Max Martin, who produced some of her biggest hits, including her first, "Baby One More Time." The first single, "Womanizer," will be released to radio Sept. 22, her record label, Jive/Zomba, announced Monday.

Just In: Britney Spears New Album Release Date

ET breaks the news that Britney Spears will release her next album entitled "Circus" sooner than you may think!

The pop princess' sixth studio album will be released on December 2, which is also Britney's 27th birthday.

"Womanizer," the album's first single released through her Jive/Zomba label, will hit radio on September 22.

The world release of "Circus" comes on the heels of Britney's MTV Video Music Awards sweep, where she won "Video of the Year," "Best Female," and "Best Pop Video" for her hit video "Piece of Me."

Jennifer Lopez Completes First Triathlon

Jennifer Lopez was one of several celebrities to complete a triathlon in Malibu, CA today, showing off her shapely post-pregnancy body just seven months after giving birth to twins.

The singer, 39, threw her arms in the air and smiled to onlookers as she crossed the finish line of the grueling event, which involves swimming, running and biking. People magazine reports she finished the race in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds. On the sidelines to offer support were fans and Jennifer's husband Marc Anthony, who kissed his wife between the biking and running portions of the race.

After finishing, Lopez joined family and friends in a VIP area where actors Matthew McConaughey and Jon Cryer were also spotted. McConaughey was with his girlfriend Camila Alves and their newborn son Levi.

J.Lo's triathlon performance comes just days after "Project Runway" host Heidi Klum revealed that the singing sensation had pulled out of a planned appearance on the season finale of the fashion designers show due to a foot injury.

The New York Daily News reports that Lopez and her family were quickly leaving L.A. so they could focus on a 40th birthday bash being held for Marc Sunday night at a New York hotel.

Britney Spears and her family - including sister Jamie Lynn and her daughter Maddie, brother Bryan, mom Lynne and dad Jamie - threw a car-themed joint birthday party for sons Sean Preston and Jayden James in Beverly Hills Saturday.

Sean, who turns 3 on Sunday, and Jayden, who turned 2 on Friday, were given miniature SUVs with personalized license plates.

Jennifer Lopez Finishes Triathlon in 2 1/2 Hours

Jennifer Lopez completed the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 38.8 seconds
on Sunday.

The singer, 39, pumped her arms in the air and smiled broadly as she crossed the finish line of the swimming-running-biking event.

"Thank you guys so much," she told the crowd. "This is an amazing day.

"I feel really great and so glad I finished and that I made it out of the water but more amazing than that, I feel really great that we raised $127,000 for the Children's Hospital [of Los Angeles] and hopefully it'll go to good use," Lopez added.

Husband Marc Anthony was on the sidelines being supportive. The couple kissed between the biking and running portions of the race.

After finishing, Lopez joined her family and Matthew McConaughey, who came in before her, in the VIP area. McConaughey was accompanied by his girlfriend Camila Alves and their newborn son Levi.

McConaughey's race time was 1 hour, 30 minutes and 44.7 seconds.

Lopez' participation raised $127,000 for the Children's Hospital of L.A. and the entire event raised $950,000.

Lopez and Anthony are expected to return to NYC after the event to host his 40th birthday bash Sunday night.

Fans and fellow participants were seen cheering on Lopez and giving her high-fives.

Lopez was inspired to run a triathlon while eight months pregnant with twins Max and Emme, who were born in February.

"I was beached like a whale," Lopez — Self magazine's Most Inspiring Woman of 2008 — said on ABC's Good Morning America last month.

"I was watching TV, and I saw a triathlon and I said, 'You know what? I think I could do that, that would be great for me to do. Maybe I'll do it this year,'" she explained.

"Swimming is a killer," Lopez admitted. "I'm not going to lie."

She also joked that she is determined to finish the race even if she "has to crawl across that finish line."

“The boys received tons of birthday gifts,” a source told People. “Britney and her family really made the party special for the boys.”

Jennifer Lopez was supposed to be the guest judge on the season finale of the Project Runway finalists' show in Bryant Park during Fashion Week in NYC Friday morning. However famous fashion designer and model Heidi Klum announced "Jennifer Lopez was going to be our guest judge, but she canceled yesterday due to a foot injury," However despite of Heidi's comments, Gunnar Petersen, Jennifer's trainer, denied any kind of mishap "No injuries, all good." she told OK!

Guess who replaced Jennifer?None other than fashion guru Tim Gunn! "I'm happy to fill in last minute and will be impartial and unbiased to the designers," said Tim.

So did Jennifer really have some problem or she was kicked out of show at the last moment? That remains unrevealed.

Jennifer Lopez Cancels on Project Runway Judging

As they say, the show must go on.

The producers of Project Runway had planned to introduce another surprise judge for this season’s upcoming. And thanks to an interesting twist of fate, they now will.

As rumored, fashionista Jennifer Lopez had been scheduled to play guest judge for the show’s Fashion Week finale. (Her appearance would have followed the job done by Victoria Beckham in Season 4.) Unfortunately, a last-minute foot injury forced the style icon to bow out of today’s taping.

It’s not known whether the injury was somehow related to Lopez’ current triathlon training. It also wasn’t made clear why Jennifer couldn’t still judge while sitting down.

Fortunately for the producers, they didn’t have to go far to find a knowledgeable replacement. For the first time in five installments, mentor Tim Gunn will be given his chance to have a say in the final selection.

Now, really—wasn’t this the way it should have been anyway?

The Boy Who Danced With Britney!

When we first saw this video a week or so ago, we suspected it was a rehearsal for her much publicized VMA appearance -- but now, one of the dancers is revealing details about the rehearsal, which is apparently going to be part of a video for her new single, Mannequin!

Aussie dancer Shannon Holtzapffel tells the Daily Telegraph that he was "hand-picked" to dance with Brit!

Other details he reveals about the shoot:

• "It's documentary style of us all in a rehearsal studio with her (Spears)."
• "I get very close to her. There's one part where we rest heads together and I'm resting on her neck before she pushes me away."
• "When we were finished rehearsing, they'd take the CD and put it in a safe,'' Holtzapffel said. "I've never experienced anything like it before.''

He went on to say that, "when it's released, it'll be showing she's back in the game. She has a new album, new music and a new future.''

Britney Spears Donates Painting for Charity

Britney Spears and her family have donated an autographed portrait of the singer for charity, with a starting bid of $10,000 on eBay.

The 5-by-4-foot oil painting of the pop star was given to the L.A.-based Promises Foundation, which provides behavioral health services to low-income women and their children.

"The Spears family gave us this painting out of their generosity," says the organization's director, Lisa Rogg. "It was their idea for the auction."

The eBay page shows several photos of Spears standing next to the artwork, as well as a letter of authenticity from her father, Jamie, which states: "I hereby verify that the portrait of my daughter, Britney, has been in our home since it was completed by the Daniel Maltman Studio."

The oil painting is 5 x 4 ft. and depicts Brit in the nude. It was given to the Promises Foundation in Los Angeles, who help low-income women and their children. No, the "Piece of Me" singer isn't hard up for cash; she's auctioning an autographed portrait of herself for a good cause.

Brand had just broken off a relationship with Australian Teresa Palmer, and Russell told the reporters he was back on the prowl. Brand said he was “footloose and fancy free”.

The Sun thinks that Britney went on a date with British comedian Russell Brand – and she very well may have. The two were spotted at the same restaurant on the same night at the same time – but of course came and left separately, so there’s no way to know.

It’s cute that they think Russell Brand is “the man of the moment in America.” I think he’s just “less unknown than he used to be in America.” Of course that doesn’t sound quite so sexy and likely to entice Britney. But I don’t think they’re being misinformed about Russell’s popularity means that they’re misinformed about everything. Brand is edgy without being a blatant risk in terms of Brit’s reputation – which I think she probably takes pretty seriously now, considering how hard she’s worked the last few months. And while it’d be an odd and rather humorous pairing, I doubt it’d damage her popularity like K-Fed or paparazzo Adnan Ghalib.

I think it’d be best if she stayed away from guys and just focused on her kids and career for a while. But rarely does Britney do what I ask. And Brand seems like an okay choice for her – nothing spectacular either way.

Madonna Dedicates 'Like A Virgin' to the Pope

Madonna's tumultuous relationship with the Catholic church took yet another strange turn this weekend, when she paid homage to the Pope before performing her hit "Like a Virgin."

"I dedicate this song to the Pope, because I'm a child of God," the performer, 50, told 60,000 fans who flocked to the Italian capital for the latest stop on her Sticky & Sweet world tour, Reuters reports. "All of you are also children of God."

In 2006, Vatican officials accused the singer of putting on one of the most blasphemous displays of all time when she staged a mock crucifixion during her performance at the city's Olympic Stadium.

Madonna, who comes from a devout Italian Catholic family, has often clashed with the church over her penchant for mixing religious and sexual imagery.

The Vatican also condemned her controversial 1989 video for the song "Like A Prayer," which featured burning crosses, statues crying blood and Madonna seducing a black Jesus.

Madonna Parties with Guy on His Birthday

If you own a pub, you might as well drink there. That is exactly what Guy Ritchie did to celebrate his 40th birthday Wednesday night.

Ritchie, part-owner of The Punchbowl, chose it as the venue for his low-key party – a far cry from the over-the-top bash he threw for his wife Madonna's 50th b-day last month.

Still, a scrum of at least 20 paparazzi greeted Madonna and her husband of seven years when they arrived together at the traditional pub in London's posh Mayfair district.

Film director Ritchie turned and gave a thumbs-up to the photographers as they entered.

Their daughter Lourdes, 11, and son Rocco, 8, also attended the party. Meanwhile, a nanny for son David carried the Malawi-born boy (who turns 3 later this month) into the venue. Sporting Ugg boots, he wore a tartan top and matching pom-pom hat, in honor of his father's Scottish heritage.

Madonna and children left well before Ritchie – and that was a good thing.

While most British pubs close between 11 p.m. and midnight, Ritchie's party raged on until the early morning. (To prevent a licensing law infraction, the bash continued on behind closed doors in what is commonly called a "lock-in.")

The birthday boy – who's rarely seen smiling in public – headed out at 4 a.m., jumping for joy and grinning broadly at the waiting photographers.

Gwyneth, Kate and Nicole Get Into Groove for Madonna

Madonna's A-list pals had fans playing "Who's That Girl?" as they slipped into her London show on Thursday night, not long before the lights began to dim.

The singer's gym-buddy (and fellow Anglophile) Gwyneth Paltrow was all smiles as she settled in to watch the Sticky and Sweet show next to fellow actress Kate Hudson. Also sitting nearby in London's massive Wembley Stadium: Fergie and Penelope Cruz.

In fact, Madonna, 50, had so many famous friends on hand, they filled not one, but two VIP areas.

Another all-star box included Nicole Kidman, who – like Cruz, Fergie and Hudson – is in London prepping for the upcoming movie-musical Nine. During the singer's athletic, 90-minute set, the Oscar-winner laughed and joked with a girlfriend – Naomi Campbell, and "I Kissed a Girl"'s Katy Perry also made the scene.

Madonna – who had spent the previous night partying for husband Guy Ritchie's birthday – showed no signs of fatigue as she aerobicized her way through super-charged renditions of "Vogue," "Into the Groove" and her newest hit, "Give It 2 Me."

And the open-air concert went off without a hitch, despite dire weather predictions in the notoriously soggy city. "I would like to thank God, all my friends," she said as the show wound down, "because it didn't f---ing rain!"

Nicole Kidman the 'most overpaid actor'

The Australian Oscar-winner topped Forbes magazine's annual list of the least bankable film stars - those least likely to give studios a good return on their investment at the box office.

An analysis of Kidman's most recent films found they earned only $1 (57 pence) for every dollar the actress was paid, compared to $8 a year ago.

Last year's The Invasion, a remake of the 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, fared even worse, losing $2.68 for every dollar paid to Kidman, who reportedly received $17 million for her role.

"Despite winning an Oscar for her performance in 2002's The Hours, Kidman has become the most overpaid celebrity in Hollywood," notes Forbes, which adds her career could receive a boost with Baz Luhrmann's upcoming epic Australia, in which she stars opposite Hugh Jackman.

Kidman replaces fellow Australian Russell Crowe, who last year topped Forbes' list, now in its second year.

She is followed in second place by Jennifer Garner, whose films including The Kingdom and Catch and Release have underperformed at the box office. The magazine notes that even though Garner received a relatively "low salary", the films did so badly they were calculated to earn just $3.60 for every $1 she was paid.

Kidman's ex-husband, Tom Cruise, came third in the list with a $4 return for every dollar he was paid, mostly because of last year's flop Lions for Lambs. For every dollar the star earned, the film returned only $1.88.

Forbes calculated the rankings by looking at stars' past three films and dividing their total earnings by the releases' gross income to get the actor's payback figure.

Also making the top 10 most overpaid Hollywood celebrities were Cameron Diaz, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Will Ferrell and Cate Blanchett.

The magazine notes that studios looking to hire Diaz, who reportedly earned $50 million between June 2006 and June 2007, "might want to question whether she's worth the money".

"Her films returned a lowly $4 for every dollar Diaz earned," it said.

The actor whose bankability improved the most over the past year was Crowe, who was ranked the most overpaid celebrity in 2007 when Kidman was in second place.

Last year, Forbes estimated his film Cinderella Man earned $5 for every dollar that Crowe was paid.

But this year, he was the 18th best earner on a previously issued list of actors worth their paycheques, with a return of $6.88 for every dollar he earned.

The improvement was attributed to last year's American Gangster with Denzel Washington, for which Crowe returned a $10.80 for every dollar he was paid.

Forbes annual list of Hollywood's most valuable stars, released in July, was topped by Vince Vaughn, who raked in $14.73 for every dollar he was paid for his films The Break-up, Wedding Crashers and Dodgeball.

Number two on the magazine's Ultimate Star Payback list was Tobey Maguire, with a gross income return of $13.44 for each dollar of his pay for the Spider-Man sequels and Seabiscuit.

Best known for her sultry image as a pop superstar, Britney Spears actually began her youthful career as an actress -- the singing came later. Spears was born December 2, 1981, in Kentwood, LA. A mere eight years later, she was auditioning for The Mickey Mouse Club, although she wouldn't be added to the cast for another three years. She spent summers schooling at New York's Off-Broadway Dance Center and the Professional Performing Arts School, and earned a role on the off-Broadway play Ruthless in 1991. A year later, she became a Mouseketeer, and was part of the show from the time she was 11 until she was 13. After returning home for a short time to become a "regular" high-school student, Spears was signed to the Jive record label, and finished recording her first album as a vocalist in 1998. Released in 1999, ...Baby One More Time was a smash hit, and in conjunction with Spears' stunning good looks, rocketed her to superstardom. She followed up with Oops!...I Did It Again the following year, and then Britney in 2001. In February of 2002, Spears starred in her first major motion picture, Crossroads, bringing her back to her roots in acting. Playing a young woman named Lucy who embarks on an adventurous road trip with three friends in search of a mother who abandoned her at a young age, Spears savvily tied-in the release of the film with several singles from her 2001 recording Britney. Though her fan base showed up in droves, that wasn't enough to make Crossroads a hit, and critics not surprisingly lambasted the film as sentimental and exploitive. Spears' debut did not go ignored by the annual Razzie Awards, however, where the neophyte actress shared a trophy with her idol Madonna for Worst Actress of 2002. That wasn't all she shared with the former Material Girl: The next year, Madonna passed the provocation torch to the young popster when the two locked lips on the live broadcast of MTV's Video Music Awards show. The stunt was well-timed to announce the arrival of her LP In the Zone, which spawned numerous hits; less auspicious was Spears' made-for-TV project Brave New Girl, a semi-autobiographical mother-daughter bonding tale written by Spears and her mother, Lynne, in which Britney made a cameo and assumed production duties. Lindsay Rumor Rundown: Baby Talk and Topless Chatter

It was together-time galore for Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson over the weekend. Let's start on Saturday, when the twosome touched off a media scrum at New York Fashion Week as they stepped out for the runway show of the DJ's designer sister, Charlotte Ronson.

The actress, 22, looking fabulous in a cleavage-ariffic, curve-clinging dress, whispered and laughed with her inamorata, 31, from the front row and happily posed for pictures with her.

And the story was much the same on Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, with Lindsay hitting the red carpet in a deep purple satin minidress and Barbarella-inspired tresses before sitting side by side with Sam in the audience.

(Alas, neither occasion provided a repeat of their recent caught-on-camera lip-on-lip action.

The seeming seriousness of their relationship -- from their months-long joined-at-the-hip status to their schmoopy MySpace messages -- has led one British tabloid to take the typical leap made with many a celebrity pairing, namely, by speculating on the pitter-patter of little feet.

In a report that puts the "OB" in "improbable," Britain's News of the World floats the idea that the actress, who went to rehab three times last year and is just starting to regain her personal and professional footing (no thanks to her attention-seeking, indiscreet dad), is hoping to welcome the stork with Ronson.

"Lindsay is in a very happy place at the moment. She's been having deep discussions about a baby," alleges a source, who may or may not be attempting to do some sort of stealthy promotion for Lohan's upcoming pregnancy flick, "Labor Pains." "She wants a natural birth and has spoken to Sam about getting one of her ex-boyfriends to help out. They don't want to adopt."

The words you're grasping for here: Yeah, right.

Anyhoodle, in more believable news, Lindsay may not be pulling in the big paychecks from her "Mean Girls" heyday, but that doesn't mean she's desperate enough to ditch her shirt for cold hard cash.

The New York Post says she nixed a (we think lowball) $700,000 offer from Playboy to pose for an eight-page topless spread in the January issue.

Seems the men's mag wanted Lindsay to pay homage to one of her favorite stars by having her channel Ann-Margret from the flick "Kitten With a Whip."

But her rep brushes off the report, insisting that her skin-baring Marilyn Monroe tribute in the pages of New York earlier this year was her butt-nekkid swan song.

"If there's nudity, then the answer's no," the paper quotes the mouthpiece as saying. "She's not going down the [New York] magazine road again."
